DAY 6: HOLIDAY AND CHILL

Listen, I’m a pretty adventurous consumer when it comes to food and drink but there are just some things I can’t get on board with.  Ya, I’m talking to you, egg nog.  I’m not trying to be a Scrooge I swear, but creamy cocktails just aren’t my thing. Egg nog, for me, is just so heavy and rich that it completely just blows my palette out.  There are plenty of awesome egg nog cocktails out there so this is for my fellow egg nog nay sayers. Today’s cocktail would be like if a White Russian and Egg Nog had a delicious baby.  It has a great amount of spice and is light and you can definitely drink more than one. So egg nog, sorry you’re just going to have to sit this holiday out.

DUDETTE

Glassware: coupe

Garnish: freshly grated nutmeg

1 ½ oz Watershed Vodka

½ oz All Spice dram

½ oz Watershed Nocino (Ohio black walnut liqueur)

2 ½ oz soy milk

METHOD: Add all ingredients to a shaker tin. Shake well and strain into a coupe. Toast a friend.

FOR A CROWD:  You can pre-batch this cocktail and whisk with ice until you can get the right amount of dilution.  Pour into glass bottles and keep on ice and guests can serve themselves at their leisure. Do you have to stand at your bar grating nutmeg all night every time someone helps themselves to this cocktail? No. Will the cocktail be just as yummy without it? Yes. This is also a great dessert cocktail if you’re throwing a holiday dinner party.

WITH A TWIST: This cocktail would also be delicious with rum, bourbon or rye.  You can certainly use whatever milk makes you happy in this recipe-Dudette is cool with.

But be cool, egg nog lovers, no one is trying to take away your festive holiday libation. There’s plenty of room for everyone in the punch bowl. I’m not saying that wearing your bathrobe while  drinking this cocktail makes it taste better but it definitely doesn’t hurt.
